Volvo Tips: Folding and Unfolding the Seats Of The XC90
The 2nd row seats in the Volvo XC90 has three individual seating positions whose backrests can be folded down separately.
To fold down the backrests on the center seat, first lower the head restraints manually.
Pull the strap on the center seat's right side.
Fold down the backrest until it locks into position.
The seat cushion will move downward as the backrest is folded down to create a flat surface.
To return the center backrest to the upright position, pull the strap and lift the backrest, then release the strap.
Push it into position until its lock engages.
To fold down the backrests for the rear outboard seats, pull up and hold the handle on the bottom side of the seat.
Push the backrest down into the folded position.
Be sure that the backrests and the head restraints do not come in contact with the front seats while they're being folded down.
Fold the backrest down until it locks into place.
Once again, the seat cushion will move downward as the backrest is folded down to create a flat surface.
The outboard seat head restraints fold down automatically when the backrest is lowered to the down position.
To return the backrest to the upright position, pull up and hold the handle on the bottom side of the seat.
Lift the backrest into the upright position and release the handle.
Press the backrest until its lock engages.
Be sure the backrest and head restraints do not come in contact with the front seats while they are being folded up.
Fold up the head restraints manually.
The third row of seats has two individual seating positions that can be folded down.
Pull the handle on the upper side of the backrest upward.
Be sure that the backrest and head restraint do not come in contact with the seat in front while they're being folded down.
Fold the backrest down.
The seat cushion will move downward as the backrest is folded down to create a flat surface.
The head restraint folds down automatically when the backrest is folded down.
To return the backrest to the upright position, pull the handle on the upper side of the backrest upward.
Fold the backrest up until it locks into position.
The head restraints once again have to be folded up manually.
