200 BUCKS A YEAR for Volvo On Call Services. Is It Worth It?

The answer is YES.


Like many automobile manufacturers Volvo Cars offers a smartphone app that is available through iTunes and the Google Play store.

The Volvo Cars app is part of a subscription service that keeps you in communication with your Volvo car.

The subscription includes useful functionality within three areas:

Volvo Cars app will let you lock or unlock doors, remote start/stop engine, car warnings, driving journal, vehicle information, honk and flash, send to car and roadside assistance

Safety services - direct access to accident or breakdown services from Volvo Roadside but an in car button or by call 800-63-VOLVO.

Security services - remote door unlock by Volvo On Call, theft alarm notification, stolen vehicle tracking and in some areas vehicle immobilization.

Please note that a new Volvo does come with a complimentary four year subscription that is valid from the initial date of activation. If the subscription was activated prior to purchase date of the vehicle, it will go from the original activation date. Volo Cars states that there is no way to extend, pause, or renew the complimentary subscription.

When the expiration date is near for your Volvo On Call services, you will get a notification to renew. If you would like to renew the subscription the current pricing is $200 for 12 months and you can renew directly through your Volvo Cars app or online at www.vocrenewal.com.

As a side note, Volvo says the for the SOS (emergency call/crash notification) no subscription is required.
